Fetch (formerly Fetch Rewards) is a free shopping app that allows users to earn gift cards by submitting grocery, shopping and restaurant receipts. As of February 2025, it has more than 17 million active monthly users, who submit approximately 11 million receipts per day.
The main way to use Fetch is to upload photos of receipts through the app and receive points that can be redeemed for gift cards.
The fastest way to earn points is to take advantage of the special offers featured in the app. These offers include:
– Item offers, which reward you for buying a specific product or category of product from a particular brand.
– Buy multiple offers, which reward you for purchasing a specific quantity of a product featured in the app.
– Spend X offers, which allow you to earn points when you spend a specified amount on specific items or brands.
– Point boost offers, which give you points for every dollar you spend on specified brands.
There are other ways to earn Fetch points, too. You can shop online in the app; you can download the Fetch browser extension and earn points via your browser; you can earn points playing games; and you can refer friends to Fetch.
Yes. Fetch is a legit shopping app that rewards users with free gift cards for uploading physical and electronic receipts. As of March 2025, Fetch has a 4.8 out of 5 star rating in the App store and a 4.6 out of 5 rating in Google Play.
- Fetch accepts paper receipts from almost any store, including:
- Grocery stores like Publix and Kroger
- Big box stores like WalMart and Target
- Club stores like Sam’s Club and Costco
- Drug stores like CVS and Walgreens
- Home improvement stores
- Hardware stores
- Pet stores
- Liquor stores
- Convenience stores
You can also earn rewards for online grocery purchases by connecting your email account (or accounts with select online retailers, including Amazon and WalMart).
You can submit up to 35 receipts in any 7-day rolling period. Receipts older than 14 days cannot be submitted for points.
In theory, it’s possible to earn as much as $40 or $50 with a single receipt, if you’re taking advantage of all the Fetch special offers available at any one time. In practice, the typical Fetch user earns just a few dollars per month. According to the Fetch blog, “the average Fetch user redeems a reward approximately every 130 days, or about three times per year” … and 70 precent of all gift card redemptions are either $5 or $10 gift cards.
According to the FAQs at Fetch.com, receipts that are not eligible for credit include:
- Airline tickets
- ATM and wire transfer receipts
- Movie tickets
- Concert tickets
- Return receipts
- Prescription receipts
- Medical bills
- Utility bills
According to the Fetch Terms of Service, “the Services are not directed at children under 13 years old, and Fetch does not knowingly collect or maintain personal information from children under 13 years of age.”

Fetch is free to users. Fetch earns revenue from partner brands that pay to be featured in the app.
According to Fetch, “the data you give Fetch will never be tied to your name; it will be aggregated, along with millions of other Fetch users, to observe long-term trends in shopper behavior. We use that anonymized data to improve your Fetch experience and to help our partners better understand their customers.”
Download the Fetch app in the App store or via Google Play.
After you’ve downloaded the app and signed up for an account using an email address, Facebook account or Google account, simply use your smartphone camera to take pictures of your receipts in the app and submit them to Fetch. It typically takes less than 10 seconds to submit a receipt. All receipts are worth a minimum of 25 points.
But if you purchase any of the hundreds of products and brands featured under the Fetch app’s Discover tab, you earn bonus points — hundreds or even thousands of bonus points — based on the cost of those products.
In addition, there are always Special Offers available, which give you the opportunity to earn bonus points on top of the regular points you earn from purchasing participating brands. New offers are being added all the time, and some offers only apply to certain stores. If you have elected to share your location with Fetch, you may see additional offers that are location specific.
The best thing about Fetch is you DO NOT need to pre-select or know about any of the brands or special offers; Fetch awards you the points automatically.
To take a photo of a paper receipt, simply press the large orange button at the bottom center of the screen in the app. Then press “Snap,” which brings up your smartphone camera. Line up the boundaries of the receipt and take a picture. Then swipe up to submit the receipt.
When you submit the photo, the app automatically tabulates your points for the receipt and adds those points to your account.
You can link your email address or online account with select retailers like Amazon and WalMart, and the app will automatically review your order history for qualifying purchases.
Alternatively, to submit an e-receipt, press the large orange button at the bottom center of the screen. Then press the blue “eReceipt” button, and Fetch will scan your account(s) for digital receipts.
Every 1,000 points you accumulate is typically worth one dollar and points can be redeemed for electronic gift cards, donated to charity, or used to enter giveaways.
The minimum number of points needed to redeem a gift card ranges from 3,000 – 25,000 points, but most of the brands require a minimum of 5,000 points.
There are dozens upon dozens of gift cards to choose from, including Amazon, Target and WalMart.
The overwhelming majority of gift cards are delivered in electronic form and rewards are typically received with a few minutes after redemption. However, Fetch says that it can take up to 72 hours to receive your gift card.
The pros of Fetch are obvious. First, it’s very easy to use; offers don’t need to be unlocked before you submit receipts. Also, Fetch accepts receipts from almost any store. And you can earn points in a variety of ways, like downloading games from Fetch Play, shopping online in the app and referring friends.
The only cons are that you earn a limited number of points (25) for receipts with no Special Offers. And points can only be redeemed for gift cards; there is no cash back option.

Simply click ‘Rewards’ at the bottom right of the screen, then review the list of brands in the available categories (retail, restaurants, entertainment, cash cards, health & beauty, home & office, fashion, travel, pets, recreation, specialty.) Then select a gift card and reward amount from the menu and click ‘submit.’
Yes. According to the Fetch Help Center, if your account is inactive for 90 days, the points earned expire. Fetch notifies users via email and by text message before points expire.
Peruse the Brands list and Special Offers list before you go shopping or while you’re in the store. The available rewards might inspire you to choose a brand on the list over your regular brand, or it might prompt you to try a new product you would not have otherwise tried.
In addition to submitting receipts to Fetch, you can:
1. Use the GoodRx coupon available within the app to earn points and save on prescriptions. As of 2/6/25 the GoodRx coupon allows you to earn 10,000 points on first use and 1,500 points each time after that.
2. Earn points for downloading and playing games on Fetch Play, which was introduced during the first quarter of 2024. Simply hit the ‘Play’ button at the top center of the app to go to Fetch Play. Then hit the ‘Play Now’ button to view the selection of games. As of 2/6/25, game options include:

The latest version of Fetch also includes a “social feature” that gives you the chance to connect with friends and family who also use the app. As noted in the Fetch Help Center, “When you are connected with someone, you can see their point-earning activity, and they can see yours, creating a social and competitive environment!” Instructions on how to add and remove friends can be found in the app’s Help Center.
Yes. You can send your unique referral link/code to friends via text or email. Fetch referral offers vary over time, but generally both you and your friend(s) will earn at 2,000 – 3,500 points ($2 – $3.50) when a friend submits their first receipt to Fetch.
