Gigwalk

Earn cash via PayPal by completing photo audits in retail stores

Last updated on February 16th, 2025 at 10:34 pm

Gigwalk is a free mobile app for Apple iOS and Android that allows users to earn cash by completing mystery shopping-type photo audits in their area. The jobs (or “Gigs”) most commonly involve taking pictures and answering a series of questions about a specific product (or products).

Gigwalk is a free store/brand auditing app that allows shoppers to earn cash by completing micro jobs (“Gigs”) in retail stores. The typical Gig involves completing a photo audit, inspecting and taking pictures of product displays, or evaluating event promotions. The app compensates so-called Gigwalkers with cash via PayPal.

Yes. Gigwalk is a legit app that pays users cash via PayPal. As of January 2025, Observa has a 4.6 out of 5 star rating in Apple’s App store and a 3.2 out of 5 star rating in Google Play.

Gigwalk “Gigs” are largely limited to the United States and are posted primarily by consumer brands and retailers who want to ensure that products are available in-store and being displayed correctly.

Yes. According to Gigwalk’s in-app Support page, you need to be over the age of 18 and eligible to work in the United States to complete the jobs found in the app.

Gigwalk offers freelance mystery shopping-type jobs (“Gigs”) that typically involve taking photos and answering related questions about products found in retail stores, including supermarkets and drug stores. The most common Gig is a shelf audit (taking pictures of products on the shelf). You might also be asked to inspect displays or promotional materials.

Each available Gig is represented by a “pin” on the map in the app.

There is a time limit for completing each Gig, which is set when you accept the job. Time limit options are 2 hours, 8 hours or 24 hours.

Gigwalk Gigs typically pay between $3 and $20 and require between five and 30 minutes of your time.

The only way to get paid by Gigwalk is via PayPal.

There is no minimum to cash out because compensation for each individual gig is paid out shortly after your submission is approved.

According to Gigwalk’s in-app Support page, their clients have “14 full days to review your work starting the day after you submit [your] Gig.” In practice, most Gigs seem to get reviewed within 48 hours, and payment is issued immediately upon acceptance.

Gigwalk Gigs are first-come, first-served and include an overall description of the Gig, as well as specific instructions on how to complete the job. Simply follow the instructions for the job, take the necessary photos, and submit all your work directly through the app.

Earning potential with Gigwalk is limited, as Gigs are relatively few and far between, even in major metropolitan areas. For frame of reference, this writer earned $79 over the course of completing eight Gigs in 2024.

On the plus side, Gigwalk Gigs are relatively easy to complete, the app works reliably. and payment is provided promptly.

Gigwalk offers very modest earning potential, so it’s best for serious, experienced shopping app enthusiasts who want to have all available tools at their disposal. For casual shopping app users, there probably aren’t enough Gigs available on an ongoing basis to make it worth downloading.

To delete an existing Gigwalk account, submit your request via the form on the Gigwalk Support page in the Gigwalk app.

No. As of this writing, Gigwalk does not offer a referral program to incentivize sharing the app with friends. That makes it an outlier as compared to most other shopping apps.

There are several store/brand auditing apps that offer many more opportunities to earn cash (or gift cards); these include FotoPay, Field Agent, Observa and Mobee.

To get started with Gigwalk, download the app, register your account with your name and e-mail address, and link your Gigwalk account to your PayPal account.
